Why IP cameras over analogue CCTV
IP cameras transmit video over your existing network infrastructure and deliver resolution of 2MP to 8MP — significantly sharper than analogue systems. That resolution matters when you need to identify a face or read a number plate in footage. IP cameras also support features like motion-triggered recording, line-crossing alerts and two-way audio, and they run over standard Cat6 cable using Power over Ethernet, which means a single cable carries both power and data to the camera.
For any new commercial installation in Singapore, IP is the default choice. Analogue remains appropriate for very simple low-budget setups where existing coaxial cable is already in place.

What we supply and install
A complete Sentry Systemz IP camera installation includes: camera selection and placement planning for your specific layout, supply of cameras (dome, bullet or PTZ as appropriate), Cat6 cabling and trunking from each camera back to a central location, PoE network switch, NVR with appropriate storage capacity, network configuration for LAN and remote internet access, and mobile app setup and user training on handover.
Remote viewing and mobile access
All IP camera systems we install are configured for remote access via mobile app (iOS and Android) on day one. You can view live footage, play back recordings and receive motion alerts from anywhere with an internet connection. We set up your account, test the connection and walk you through the app before we leave. If your internet connection at the premises is slow, we advise on bandwidth requirements and whether any router configuration is needed.
Brands we work with
We primarily install Hikvision and Dahua IP cameras, which are the two most widely used brands in Singapore commercial installations. Both brands offer solid hardware, reliable firmware and well-supported mobile apps. For clients with specific brand requirements or existing infrastructure from other manufacturers, we can accommodate this. We specify the appropriate camera model for each application including outdoor-rated cameras for covered external locations.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between IP cameras and analogue CCTV?
IP cameras transmit video over a network and deliver significantly higher resolution (2MP to 8MP) than analogue CCTV. They run over Cat6 cable using PoE, support motion analytics and remote access, and are the standard choice for new commercial installations in Singapore.
Do IP cameras work over WiFi?
IP cameras can be wireless or wired. Wired PoE cameras are preferred for commercial installations because they are more reliable and do not drop connection. Wireless is an option where cabling is not feasible, but we recommend wired for any permanent installation.
How many IP cameras can I connect to one NVR?
NVRs come in 4, 8, 16 or 32 channel configurations. We size the NVR to your current camera count with room for future expansion. A 4-camera system today should use an 8-channel NVR so you can add cameras later without replacing the recorder.
Can I add IP cameras to an existing system?
